DVD Review: Frasier - The Complete Ninth Season

| | Comments (0)

Frasier was like the Energizer bunny of television shows. The darn thing wouldn’t go away; it just kept running and running. Entering the show's ninth season, the Frasier staff was rocked by personal tragedy when David Angell, the series' executive producer and co-creator was killed on American Airlines flight 11, which struck the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Just two weeks later on September 25 2001, Frasier began its new year on NBC.

I Love Lucy is generally regarded as one of the best comedies in television history. Lucille Ball remains one of the funniest comediennes ever to grace the small screen. As I Love Lucy entered its sixth season on CBS in 1956-57, the show was number one in the ratings and a financial success.

DVD Review: Black Snake Moan

There's no doubt about it, some movies just make me flat out uncomfortable. When I saw the poster for Craig Brewer's (Hustle & Flow) drama Black Snake Moan, with a scantily clad Christina Ricci being held in chains by Samuel L. Jackson, I had little desire to see the picture. The tagline, "Everything is hotter down south," made me think of some sort of trashy exploitation flick with better actors than usual. Instead, Black Snake Moan turned out to be a flawed character study about abuse, redemption, and the power of the blues.
